Hi, I’m Scott.

I’ve been a pro writer and editor for more than 15 years, but I fell in love with storytelling long before that—mostly while watching Star Wars on a threadbare couch in my childhood home or hiding under the covers with a dying flashlight. Since then, I’ve worked on epic fantasy novels, big-money ad campaigns, and massive tech volumes. But it always comes back to story.

So, here's a quick one for you: This botched panorama is the best photo I have from The Eagle and Child pub in Oxford, England, where J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis used to meet after class to discuss their literary aspirations in a group called the Inklings.

I sought the place out because—well, in part because it has real ale and a damn fine fish and chips. But also because my love of language and storytelling runs deep. Check my credentials on LinkedIn, ACES, or EFA if you like, but everything you need to know about me is in that photo. I traveled halfway around the world to sit and drink where two of my favorite writers sat and drank and talked about writing. Not much else to say.
